This time of year, I go offline for a few days to eat unhealthily, read books and wonder why my 2021 to-do list looks remarkably like the 2020 one.
Just wanted to wish everyone the compliments of the season. Most of all, I hope you have a safe and healthy 2021.
The year 2020 had few highlights, let’s be honest. And plenty of what we shall call “challenges.” But a redeeming joy came from the kindness and companionship of fellow readers and writers.
Publishing a book often feels like lifting your head above the parapet after a long siege, with all the attendant risks. Will people wave flags or pikes?
So a large, Pemberley-sized thank you to those who have responded so positively and enthusiastically to Port & Proposals. I hope it has brought some entertainment and distraction from the travails of the past year.
My goal when I started writing was always to entertain – to leave people happy they took the time to read my words. So I’m indebted to those who did take the time to do so, smiled at the end, and enjoyed the time spent with Mr Bennet or Charlotte Collins. Thank you!
Happy holidays! (And cheers!)
